How do we better track when landscapes are becoming unusually dry? In the latest NC CASC blog, graduate researcher Kelsey Warren shares her work developing a new approach to Consecutive Dry Days (CDD), a metric designed to identify and visualize prolonged dry spells relative to a location’s climate history. The work could help strengthen drought monitoring and provide useful information for farmers, land managers, conservationists, and wildfire professionals.
