CIRES Rendezvous 2025

CIRES Rendezvous 2025

Date

The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) hosted its 20th annual Rendezvous symposium on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the University Memorial Center in Boulder, Colorado. This event brought together CIRES scientists, staff, and collaborators to celebrate research accomplishments, share ideas, and build interdisciplinary connections.

The day included a blend of events—from the “RUNdezvous” 5K (which our university deputy director, Jane Wolken, ran) and flash talks by early-career researchers to a thought-provoking State of the Institute address by CIRES Director Waleed Abdalati. A centerpiece of the event was the poster session, highlighting the diversity of scientific work across the institute. Comms lead, Ulyana Pena; program assistant, Hailey Robe; social science lead, Heather Yocum; and Jane Wolken presented a poster spotlighting its wide-ranging research, outreach, and science communication efforts. It emphasized the center’s mission to deliver actionable, co-produced science that supports climate adaptation and resilience across the region.

Several NC CASC team members were also recognized for their achievements:

Dr. Jane Wolken, University Deputy Director, was promoted to Research Scientist III.

Dr. Imtiaz Rangwala, Climate Lead, was promoted to Senior Research Scientist.

Laura Burfield and Rebecca Stossmeister received a CIRES Outstanding Performance Award for Administrative Service, in recognition of their dedication and support to the NC CASC team.

Congratulations!
