Prasad Thota, a former NC CASC GRA and Research Affiliate, has joined the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer as a Lead Water Resources Professional in the Hydrology Bureau in Santa Fe. The Hydrology Bureau provides the technical foundation for administering New Mexico’s surface and groundwater, supporting water rights decisions, adjudications, and interstate stream compact compliance. In his new role, Prasad will carry out hydrologic and hydrogeologic analyses, develop and apply hydrologic models to evaluate the effects of water diversions, and work with large hydrologic and geospatial datasets to support the state’s water management and planning.
