Grasslands & Climate Change: A Listening Session to Discern High Priority Information Needs and Trainings

This participatory session will facilitate a discussion of high priority research needs and trainings to support grassland management in a changing climate. Facilitators will briefly share some initial findings of information needs from the NC CASC Grasslands Synthesis Project. We will then facilitate discussion to hear what types of information are most urgently needed by grassland managers, and what format (for example, fact sheets, webinars, workshops, or trainings) would be most useful for conveying various information. Participants will have the opportunity to provide input ahead of the session by completing a brief survey, and there will be opportunities to provide both oral and written input during the session.  The discussion will be specifically oriented to answer the questions described below:

  • What information do you or your agency/organization most urgently need to successfully manage grasslands in a changing climate?
  • What types of information are best provided on fact sheets or informational documents?
  • What types of online grasslands and climate change sessions would you most be interested in?
    • What topics would you like to see covered?
    • What format (for example, presentations, webinars, discussions, training) would you prefer?

The outcomes of this session will be used to guide and prioritize the dissemination of results from the NC CASC Grasslands Synthesis Project and to inform the planning of cross-regional training efforts.
