NC CASC Workshop: Climate Data 101 in Python

Are you a resource manager or scientist interested in learning how to work with climate data in Python? If so, the North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center and Conservation Science Partners invite you to register for a Climate Data 101 in Python Workshop.

When: Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 from 9am-2pm MT

Who: The workshop is designed for NGO scientists, federal and state agency employees, university researchers and students, and others who use climate data to understand global environmental change in their work. We strongly encourage participants to have some previous background using the Python programming language, however this is not a requirement for participation.

Where: Online

What: In this free virtual workshop, you will learn how to:

  • Download climate model data (MACAv2) from the Climate Toolbox.
  • Use Python, specifically xarray, to work with NetCDF file formats and extract only the data you need.
  • Create informative graphics and share your results.

How: All work will be completed using Google Colab. All you need to attend this workshop is a computer with internet access. No computer setup is required. All workshop lessons are posted on the Earth Lab open learning portal and all workshop activities will be shared through a Google Drive link sent to you prior to the workshop.

RSVP: To register, fill out this RSVP form by Sunday, November 7th 2021. Space is limited, so spots will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that in the past this workshop has filled up quickly. You will be notified whether you have received a spot or are on the waitlist by Wednesday, November 10th. If you register and discover that you can no longer attend, please let us know so that we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist.
