Climate Data 101 in Python workshop

Date

The NC CASC hosted a fully remote Climate Data 101 in Python workshop for resource managers and climate scientists on Friday, October 30th, 2020. There was overwhelming interest in the workshop with 115 RSVPs for 45 spots. Participants came from 15 states across the U.S. and were primarily federal agency employees and university faculty and students. The workshop covered the basics of using scientific programming with Python to analyze and visualize netcdf MACA v2 climate data. All of the workshop lessons (https://www.earthdatascience.org/courses/use-data-open-source-python/hierarchical-data-formats-hdf/) , along with hundreds of others, can be found on Earth Labs free open education learning portal (https://www.earthdatascience.org/) and the interactive activities from the event can be found on GitHub (https://github.com/earthlab/climate-data-101) . Given the clear need for this type of training, the NC CASC plans to host more data-intensive workshops like this one in the future.
