The NC CASC is proud to welcome a new research assistant, Danika Mosher. She will assist with scenario planning and ecological response modeling to meet the needs of the National Park Service, and other DOI and tribal partners.

A bit more about Danika: Danika is a graduate student at East Tennessee State University majoring in Geosciences and concentrating in Geospatial Analysis. Being a naturalist at Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation and living in the Southern Appalachians influenced her pursuit in higher education. While developing her skills in geospatial analysis, she is able to combine multiple research interests such as ecology, weather, and climate. Her thesis analyzes how Spruce-Fir forests in the Southern Appalachians respond to climate change. She has worked on several other projects, including observing annual snowfall at North Carolina ski resorts, analyzing how Guatemalan coffee responds to climate change, and as the project lead for the NASA DEVELOP National Program at NOAA's National Centers for Environmental Information. Danika regularly participates in outreach events within her department and for the Geoscience Club, and is an advocate for incorporating arts into the sciences to enhance education and communication.
