CIRES Rendezvous 2026
Date
On May 14, 2026, members of the North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center (NC CASC) participated in the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) Rendezvous, an annual institute-wide symposium that brings together researchers, staff, and collaborators to celebrate the year's achievements as well as share science and highlight emerging work. Jane Wolken (University Deputy Director), Ulyana Peña (Head of Science Communication), and Heather Yocum (Lead Social Scientist) co-presented a poster titled “Communicating Climate Adaptation Science: Blogs, Visual Media, and Actionable Products from NC CASC,” highlighting how effective communication transforms robust science into accessible, decision-relevant knowledge. Their work showcased a multi-modal approach including the NC CASC blog, Rapid Climate Assessment Program (RCAP) reports, and the Science Speaks video series that connects research to real-world climate adaptation efforts across diverse audiences. The event also recognized outstanding contributions from the team, including Jane Wolken’s 5-year service award and well-deserved promotions for Christy Miller Hesed, Hailey Robe, and Ulyana Peña.
