Nadine Golden is joining us on a 120-day detail as the Assistant Regional Administrator (formerly titled Deputy Director) for the North Central Climate Adaptation Science Center. Nadine comes from the USGS Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) based in Santa Cruz, CA, where she currently serves as the Deputy Center Director. As the PCMSC Deputy, she co-leads all facets of a broad, productive, and complex science center of approximately 100 staff and a budget of approximately $20m. Prior to this role, Nadine was a Geographer at PCMSC, leading studies to develop and disseminate a wide variety of marine and coastal data sets.
In her detail, Nadine will lead convening the kick off meeting for our newly constructed Advisory Committee, finalizing our five-year science plan, and coordinating the annual project solicitation process. This will be a wonderful opportunity for exchange of insights and knowledge between the USGS Natural Hazards Mission Area (within which PCMSC is situated) and the USGS Ecosystems Mission Area (within which the NC CASC is situated).
